I am not really sure how I feel about this, so let's try and sort it out. First of all, the inclusion of greatest hits albums on this list is questionable. At times certainly justified. There have been some very iconic greatest hits albums that deserve mention. Mainly though because the srtists were not album artist and had stronger singles. This is not the case (much to my amazement) with CCR. I have never had any CCR albums just this one and I always thought of them as a singles band. After all this is 2 albums (on vinyl) of very very strong material. In fact the material is so strong that you would be hard pressed to lay you hand on anyone who hasn't heard more that half of this stuff.
No that I have heard their albums, I really believe that CCR is an album band. The released some very strong albums and I certainly enjoy listening to the albums from start to finish more than this collection. That being said, if you put the first and last few tunes aside this is a very consistant sounding record and is certainly an amazing achievement. It is always amzing how simple and elagant this songwriting is. Just using a handful of chords and some very understated playing they managed to throw out some great gems that still sound great and fresh.
