I have owned this album ever since I was a teenager. Mainly because I was supposed to. It has always been one of those albums that, if you are a serious music collector, you have to have it in your collection. Before this project, I had listened to this album on a few occasions, but I don't think that I ever got through the whole thing in one sitting. Not that I didn't like it, but reggae has never been my thing. I have a hard time relating to it. Bob once said that white people can't play reggae because they are not capeble of letting themselve go enough to really be 'in' it. I think that is true of me. I can't get 'in' it. Still can't. I can say that I have listened to this all the way through several time and really really like it. Much more than I ever have in the past. I can connect to it better on a gut level. I really am looking forward to the other standard Marley albums on the list. I think that Marley, like The Band, is better understood and appreciated by listening to the albums themselves and not just the hits.
