This is my big 'AHAA' moment of the week. I have known some Clash stuff, I had the album "The History of The Clash', but not any of their studio albums. I have to say that I never really got them. I liked the songs OK, but did see what all of the fuss was. Well now I get it. I really get it, I love it! The way that they stsart as a punk band, but pull from everywhare, dub, reggae, classic rock, blues, ska (If that was even a thing then). It seemed that Joe Stummer just kind of has his way with it all. It never seems forced or silly, even though he is not afraid to be silly, serious, political or anything. There is certainly no other band that could call themselve punk and still have this much depth and substance. Aside from that here is anoth double album that never looses steem and is just enjoyable from start to finish. The album also works as a whole and this might have been my problem before with just cherry picking the tracks instead of diving into thier catalog. Sure, 'Train In Vain' was a last minute add in, yes it does sound that way too. It is the only thing that really sounds out of place and given this albums scope that is no easy feat, but the song is so great, it doesn't matter.
