I know we were sopposed to go over the first five this week, but there was a bunch of folks who wanted to get on board and need some more time. So, we are going to go over the first 5 albums next week.
For those that need it here is the link to the list :http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/500-greatest-albums-of-all-time-20120531
Also here is the link to AMG: http://www.allmusic.com/ You can look up some great info here like reviews, lyrics, credits, grammy info and Billboard info. If you have Jriver software, you can integrate the AMG info into the software directly. Just let me know and I can let you in on how.
As long as we are here I will say a few things about the first five. The fact that there are 3 Beatles albums in the top 5 is pretty impressive. I was pretty fammily with these, so not a lot of revelations there. I will say that it is quite amazing how Sgt. Pepper can have so much diversity and still sound like an organized group of songs. I also want to mention that I have struggled with trying to understand Pet Sounds for years. I failed to see its greatness. After a few listens, I finally get it. There really is genius there. It's just not really very 'Beach Boys' and is also kind of dark. Taking into account what Brian was going through at the time, it makes sense.
Talk more about these 5 next week.
