Top 500: 25. Live at the Apollo

OK, I know I just talked up Stevie pretty hard in the last post, but I am going to do it again. This is the same story. I never heard this album. I never heard James Brown sing like this. Never been a huge fan. I liked him and respected him, but could take it or leave it pretty much. This is brilliant. This is early James before he was really the Godfather of Funk. This is more R&B and soul than funk, and it is great. What a voice, what a performer and what a recording. This album has easily slid into my top favorite live albums ever. I think it is actually in the top 5.
