Shortly after the Beatles broke up, John saw a therapist that had him doing primal scream therapy. This album was the result of that. It is basically John writing about all of his most intimate and personal feelings and comitting them to record. I am not a big fan of this album. I love the Beatles, I like John, but don't love him. I am not particularly interested in being in his head which is where this album takes you. It is not terrable musical either. It's listenable and interesting, but not something you put on and listen to, hum along with on your way to work. It requires more than one listen to really get a handle on and then when you do you wonder if it was all worth it. Depends on how much you want to be in John's head.
I went to an exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleaveland that was staged by Yoko. The bed that they did the sleep in was there. Pretty cool stuff. The one thing that sent shivers down my spine was a large box, maybe 6 feet long and three wide with a few small windows to look inside. There inside this well lit display box was an old wrinkled brown paper bag, the top was rolled closed as it would be if you closed it up to carry it and didn't want anything to fall out, but didn't want to see inside of it either. The caption next to it said "John Lennon's personal effects."
