There 2 types of people Beatles people and Elvis people. I am a Beatles person all the way. That being said, I never heard Elvis like this before. This is before he was the king, before he made a movie or even cut a record. Before Ed Sullivan and the world ever heard of him. This is Elvis molding his sound and his voice, which is beautiful. Not the overplayed smaltzy Evis snarl. And the band is just awesome. Scotty Moore playing like...Scotty Moore, which is better than just about anyone in this genre. Great record.
Also, there was a line in Baby Lets Play House that goes "I'd rather see you dead little girl thatn to be with another man" The Beatles clearly lifted this line for "Run For Your Life" from Rubber Soul. I also hear Good Rockin Tonight reworked to There's Good Rockin at Midnight that has been covered by many including Robert Plant with the Honydrippers. Even though Elvis didn't right these tracks, it's obvious that he is pulling from the same places as many others and how many others found those places because of Elvis.
