Rolling Stone's Top 500 Albums: 66 - Moondance
If you haven't listened to this album all the way through in a while, do yourself a favor. One of the reasons I am doing this blog is to become reacquainted with albums that I haven't heard in a while. This is a great example of it. It is also a terrific example of a great album from start to finish. It is very easy to take the hits on this disc out of context. We have heard them all a bizillion times. The B-side here are what make the album, as a whole great. This is a true masterwork of early jazz-rock that to this point has never been explored like this or reached these heights. Aside from the technical and musical brilliance, this is a happy album, as happy and as hopeful as anything Van has ever done, The album just elevates you.
